I helped Damien out the other day and took some photos of his studio set up at his new flat. I think the plan is to use them to publicise the availability of the place. Anyway, we went with a blue/white feel for some of the latter shots. These were both shot with two Canon 580EXII flashes, one being gelled blue and the other open white. Here are a couple of my favourite images from the afternoon.

Studio

For the studio shot, I attached one of the flashes to a stand and used it like a boom to hold over the desk. The other flash was on another stand, fairly close to the camera and gelled in blue. If I remember rightly, the blue flash was set to full power and the white one to 1/4.

microphone

The close up microphone shot was a similar principle to above. The blue gelled flash was attached to a manfrotto magic arm and the white flash I attached a home made grid and got Damien to hold it pointed at the microphone. I’m quite pleased with the outcome.

Nick Turpin’s take on the recently introduced guidelines given to police in the UK for dealing with photographers. As usual, the very generic terrorism laws are used, along with the more worrying section 110 of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005, which effectively give police the power to arrest anyone for anything.

I took this at a wedding the other week that I was working on. This was before the ceremony kicked off and was being uplit nicely by some light’s we had put on the chuppah.

Took this ages ago for Damo and MofoIsDead. They make some cool music.
