The HTC Touch phone looks remarkably like the soon to be released Apple iPhone. I wonder if we’ll see any law suits appearing over the seemingly identical technologies?

There’s a good write up on a not often mentioned feature within Mac OS X’s address book. By connecting your phone to a mac via bluetooth, you are able to use address book to send SMS messages. You’re even able to get messages into OS X when they arrive on your phone. Pretty nifty if it works with your phone!

You can buy a plugin for address book that covers a lot or Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones from Nova Media.

Ever since getting my Nokia N73, I’ve been plagued with slow messaging.
Text messages took ages to load and send and it would take forever to delete messages.

Today however, someone told me to try switching the text message memory from memory card to the phones internal memory.
So far, messaging has been incredibly quick. So if you’re having problems with slow messaging on your N73, give it a whirl and see if it works for you.

I’ve had my Nokia N73 for a little while now, I was one of the first on Orange to receive the phone, which probably wasn’t the best idea.
Ever since getting the phone, I’ve been regretting it. The amount of flaws with the software has been unbelievable.
I’m sure countless other people on Orange, and maybe other networks, have been affected too, but this post is limited to my experiences thus far.

There were times when:

• I couldn’t make calls
• The new answer phone message icon wouldn’t delete
• The phone would lock up
• The ring tone would default back to the original
• My SIM card would be rejected
• Memory allocation issues cropped up
• Applications would take minutes to load

I was pleased to find that Nokia had released a firmware update for my version of the N73 the other day.
To get this TLC that my phone needed so badly was relatively painless; compared to using the phone it was anyway.
Go to the Nokia Software Updater web-page and download the needed software for the N73 (On another note, how do Nokia work out how to name their URL’s!?).
Install the updater on your PC (where’s the Mac OS X version Nokia??).
Plug your phone in with the cable it came supplied with and click update.
Done

I’m once again happy to use the phone that sits in my pocket. All of the issues listed above have so far been rectified that I can tell.
The biggest annoyance to me was how slow the applications loaded. I would click to write a text message and have to put the phone down and come back several minutes later once the phone had finished working out what it was trying to do.

This is why companies should thoroughly test their products before unleashing them on to the public. Giving your customers no end of problems is not a good way to keep their custom. For the time being, Nokia and Orange are back in my good books. We’ll see how long that lasts!
