I do like ordering stuff from Screwfix. Not because I like spending my money, but because I know I’ll get what I ordered the next day, for a very good price.
I placed an order this morning and within twenty five minutes I had a phone call with an apology that one item wasn’t in stock. The customer service rep explained that he’d taken it off the order and that the rest of my order would be with me tomorrow morning. He even gave me a code to use to get free delivery if my next order wasn’t large enough to qualify and contained the item that was out of stock. Nice one screwfix.
This week I’ve been trying to move my mobile phone contract from Orange, to Vodafone.
Whilst I have no issues with Orange as a whole, I get barely any reception and home and have been waiting ages for a decent phone to upgrade to. The problem with having no reception at home is that I’m self employed. I’m constantly missing calls because of this, which in turn affects my business. Not good.

On Wednesday I placed and order for a Vodafone business contract with a Nokia E60 phone. It was going to be delivered on Thursday, wonderful.
So Thursday came along and sure enough, I got a delivery which contained a new phone and SIM card. However, the sales person had put the incorrect phone on my order, which meant I got the Nokia blackberry lookalike, more of a brick than a phone!
I spent the end of the week trying to do a phone swap for the phone that I wanted, but for some reason the Vodafone online store is a “seperate part of Vodafone” and as such I wasn’t able to get that phone over the telephone.
I’m not really sure how that works to be honest. Isn’t Vodafone the same company whether it’s online or offline!?
Rather irritatingly, I had to cancel the initial order I placed and now I have to start again, this time online.
I’ve now run into another problem, I can’t enter my authorisation code from Orange online! I don’t want to loose the number I currently have as that would be even worse than having reception problems.
Do these problems ever end!!
