For those of you that subscribe to my RSS feed, you may have noticed the annoying Copyright blurb at the bottom of each post. It’s there for a reason. A little while back I had all of my posts mirrored at a splog, which had the intent of driving search engine hits to their website in order to pimp their spammy services.

Several months down the line and I found another splog doing exactly the same thing. This time round I took a more forceful approach as they were mirroring the recent video I uploaded in the post entitled Time Lapse. I spent a lot of time making that video and there’s no way I was going to have it being used to garner extra credit in Google without my permission.

A California man filed a lawsuit accusing Apple Inc. of violating antitrust law because its iPhone forces buyers to use AT&T Inc. as their wireless carrier and the company “bricked” phones that had been modified to call over other networks.

As much as I’m a great fan of Apple, this was to be expected and I hope the guy wins.

I can understand the reasons for wanting to control how the iPhone is released, but it’s anticompetitive and unfair. To render phones unusable when the person has paid in excess of $350 and unlocked something that is rightfully there’s is not right.

I saw this posted on Thomas Hawks Digital Connection and thought it was worth posting here as well.

Yeah, that’s right. My image is being used for a pornographic movie called ‘Body Magic’. Did they have permission? Did they hell.
This happened a few months back (well, since I found out). Somebody noted me saying this company was using one of my pictures.. actually let me get this straight - a SELF PORTRAIT that I took at the age of FOURTEEN.

Taken from Lara Jades account of the situation.

Whoever is responsible for this theft should pay dearly. Not only is it theft of a copyrighted image, but the use of a photograph containing a minor to advertise porn is not acceptable.

Apple today announced that they will be offering the entire EMI collection of music available on the iTunes music store, DRM free!
Not only that, they’ll be offered at a higher quality bit rate of 256kbs instead of the usual 128kbs. There will however be a premium price to pay for these higher quality DRM free files, which is an additional 20 pence. It’s nice to see Apple working towards giving their users the choice.

Update
The European Commission has decided to have words with Apple over its pricing on the iTunes store in Britain. The Times this morning said we get charged £0.79p per song purchased on iTunes, whereas the rest of Europe get charged €0.99c. That equates to about £0.67p based on the current exchange rate.
I’m all for a price drop, but I’m not really fussed when music is that cheap to start with. I remember paying extorionate amounts to buy a CD in the shop long ago.

I find it amazing that airlines want to sue the government because of new security measures at airports.
Whilst i can understand that their business is being affected by the new measures, threatening legal action if security isn’t lowered to it’s original status is stupid.
I’d rather the higher security and miss my flight personally.
