When Colombia’s most notorious drug lord, Diego Montoya, was cornered by a special army commando unit on a remote coastal ranch last week, he did what came naturally: he offered the soldiers $5m each if they would let him go free. Article here.
I used to go to college with a guy who was in the Colombian army. When they used to go and destroy fields of crop used in drug making, they would normally get offered a bribe to leave them intact. When almost half of the country is living in poverty, I’m pretty sure a bribe is a hard thing to pass up.

I’m not sure if I agree with the hanging of Saddam Hussein.
No person should think that what he has done to the Iraqi people is any good, but no good will come from taking his life. He’ll just be called a martyr by those that supported his cause.
Various video and photographic accounts of the hanging are already online and easily findable. You can see a censored video on Hotair and if you really want to watch the uncensored version, I’m sure you’ll be able to find it yourself.
How people can rejoice in watching the death of another, whether that person is a terrorist, dictator or tyrant, is beyond me.
Update
Three different articles, reporting the same event.
BBC: Saddam death ‘ends dark chapter’
Guardian: Saddam Hussein executed
In a prepared statement, George Bush cautioned that Saddam’s execution would not stop the violence in Iraq but said it was “an important milestone on Iraq’s course to becoming a democracy that can govern, sustain and defend itself, and be an ally in the war on terror.”
Independent: A dictator dies: but tyranny of violence goes on and on
“Saddam will be a hero in our eyes,” said Um Abdullah, a Sunni teacher and teacher in the town, who pledged to wear black to mourn him. ” I have five kids and I will teach them to take revenge on Americans.”
