Just to let you know, at 11pm tonight i will be recompiling apache to run the latest version. This will also update the PHP version from 5.1.2 to 5.1.4. I can’t see this causing any outages and it should only take about thirty minutes, but it’s just a heads up for you in case you can’t download emails, etc.

Unfortunately, i’ve had to start this early as several websites were having problems connecting to MySQL. This has been running for a little over twenty minutes now and should be complete by 19.30.

Imagine my surprise when i ran sar -q on my server this morning and found these loads!

The server was rebooted and everything came back online with next to no downtime.

At 15:58 today host.sdjl.co.uk became unresponsive and crashed.
Attempts were made to reboot the system but a hardware issue prevented this from taking place effectively, which rendered the system as unusable.

At 17:50 the hardware that was causing these problems was replaced and the system has been rebooted and is operating once again.

I’d like to apologize for the downtime which has taken place due to this problem. Please be assured i am monitoring this closely to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

I will post any relevant updates regarding this situation in this post.
