Leeds was muddy. Very very muddy. It rained during the setup process and turned most of back stage into a bog. The Radio 1 / NME stage was particularly messy out front where the punters were. Pendulum had a massive crowd appear for their set which churned the place up even more. Just before our lot went on they had an unknown US act play, which emptied the place out. It soon filled back up when the boys got on stage.

I was a little nervous about the stage setup for the show as there’s quite a lot of stuff to do in the thirty minute turn around time. It was frantic, but I got it done on time and am now a little more relaxed about the show. Reading festival tomorrow then off to Paris for a show.

I’m going to start this one with a quoted text message I got sent.

Dave. We are not going to need you on Bath standby. I am staying down here with John as we have a lot of cables to make up and I know you are not prepared to do that sort of thing. I also think you may want to miss Birmingham as I need people that are flexible and prepared to work with us as we have kit to pull from other jobs. Speak soon Tim.

I think I need to explain this one. Read the rest of this entry »

The BBC have got some great coverage of this years Glastonbury.
I’m currently watching the Killers on the pyramid stage and it looks like they’ve got some pretty funky video work and lighting going on.

LED video walls can be too overpowering if not configured correctly, but this one looks reasonable and doesn’t detract too much from the acts on stage. At a guess I’d say it’s probably set at about 20% brightness. That’s how efficient and powerful LEDs can be!

I still find it funny that intense colours from the lighting can’t be picked up correctly by cameras. It’s mainly noticeable when saturated blues and purples are used. You get a blown fuzzy look to the image and it looks like the camera sensitivity is too high. It’s to do with the colour spectrum and how light works, I just bet it looks a whole lot nicer being there.

I really hate Adrian right now.
