I met David Hockney on Tuesday night at the National Portrait Galleries 150th birthday gala evening.
I was running the lighting side of things with two other people who had gone outside to have a cigarette. I decided to join them to carry on our conversation and after a few minutes of being outside, David Hockney and a lady with him came out for a smoke too.

It was quite a funny conversation to have with a very famous and inspirational artist, but then what artist confirms to the norm! Last time i met an artist, Tracy Emin, she certainly wasn’t to the “norm”!

The conversation was mainly about the joys of being able to smoke. It went on disagree with the anti-smoking law being introduced and how smokers hadn’t stood up for themselves. It then touched on marijuana, drinking, Stephen Spender, holidays and patio heaters. Random, but entertaining :)
